Applications is designed to assist students and other users to develop and to enhance the effective written communication skills required in particular discipline areas. Core writing tasks differ from one discipline to another. The conventions about how those writing tasks should be done also differ. The Applications section of the Writing Workshop consists of links for particular discipline areas. Each link focuses on a core writing task in the relevant discipline. It outlines, in detail, the principles involved in doing the writing task, step by step. It also provides examples that have been annotated to explain how the principles have been put into practice in a well-written model.
